The Department of Slavic Languages and Intercultural Communication (KSJaIK) is the youngest department at FAJ, at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business, but it provides programs with a long tradition - teaching general and specialized Russian language for all those interested in this language and teaching specialized Slovak language for foreign students at the university. The Slovak language for foreigners program includes not only teaching the Slovak language in its spoken and written form, but also the intercultural dimension of working with students and helping them adapt culturally to their new environment.

In the 2025/2026 academic year, Russian was added to these programs as a major at the EU Faculty of Applied Languages. In addition to theoretical linguistics courses, the department offers those interested in the Russian language the opportunity to develop their language skills in this language, while also providing space for learning about Russian culture and its place in the broader European and global context. An important part of teaching specialized theoretical subjects in the Russian language specialization is the development of cultural and intercultural competence, which is also supported by the formation of international student groups within the department.
