From September 11 to 13, 2025, representatives of the University of Economics in Bratislava (EUBA) participated in the important conference "Quo vadis? Germanistische Linguistik – Aktuelle Fragestellungen und Forschungsfelder" in Wrocław, Poland. This was the 10th anniversary of the Linguistische Treffen in Wroclaw conference. This professional event, which focused on current issues in the field of German linguistics, provided valuable opportunities for presenting research work and establishing international cooperation.
Dr. Filip Kalaš (FAJ) and Ing. Pavol Lipták (OF) spoke at the conference, presenting the topic "Extraktion von fachsprachlichen metaphorischen Kollokationen im deutschen Finanzdiskurs" (Extraction of technical metaphorical collocations in German financial discourse). Their study focuses on obtaining technical metaphorical collocations in German financial discourse using traditional methods and methods utilizing artificial intelligence.
Participation in this prestigious conference was not only a professional but also a personal benefit for them. The conference provided a unique opportunity to obtain valuable feedback from experts from different countries, as well as to exchange experiences with colleagues from Slovakia. Discussions on the latest trends in linguistics, as well as the challenges faced by the analysis of specialized texts in the context of finance, allowed us to better define the direction of our research and enriched us with new methodological approaches.
This conference was also part of an interdisciplinary project entitled "Artificial Intelligence – Challenges for Linguistics and Marketing." The project focuses on the intersection between linguistics, artificial intelligence, and marketing, exploring how modern technological tools can support the analysis of linguistic structures in various professional discourses, including finance and marketing.
In conclusion, participation in this conference was an invaluable step forward not only for young researchers, but also for our university. The knowledge, contacts, and inspiration gained will contribute to further enriching EUBA's research capabilities, while the project "Artificial Intelligence – Challenges for Linguistics and Marketing" continues to open up new horizons between technology, linguistics, and business.
