On November 27–28, 2025, a meeting of representatives of departments offering French language studies was held at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of FrancAvis, an association of university teachers of French in Slovakia.

The event was held in cooperation with the Slovak-French University Institute (SFUI) and the French Institute in Slovakia (IFS), two strategic partners of French language departments. Dr. Andrea Tureková and Dr. Martin Růžička represented the Department of Romance Languages and Intercultural Communication at FAJ.

On the first day of the meeting, a round table was held, dedicated to intensive discussions on the current state and challenges of teaching French not only at universities, but also at primary and secondary schools, which directly influence university studies. On the second day, a scientific seminar was held, at which those present presented their current scientific research with the aim of deepening cooperation between "French language" workplaces.

The meeting in Banská Bystrica once again highlighted the importance of harmonious cooperation between the various actors of the Francophone community in Slovakia.
