After participating in more than ten Blended Intensive Programmes across Europe, the Faculty of Applied Languages of the Bratislava University of Economics and Business achieved a significant milestone by organising its first BIP PROMINENCE 2025, held from 24 to 28 November 2025. This event marked an important step in the faculty’s long-term strategy to strengthen international engagement, applied academic excellence and cross-cultural learning.
The programme was officially opened by Radoslav Štefančík, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Languages, whose vision and support framed the academic and professional ambition of the week. PROMINENCE 2025 welcomed 69 students and 10 teachers from eight partner universities: Howest University of Applied Sciences (Belgium), University of Debrecen (Hungary), University of Economics – Varna (Bulgaria), Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Applied Sciences Zwickau (Germany), CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Spain), Université Savoie Mont Blanc (France), and Bratislava University of Economics and Business (Slovakia). Together, these institutions created a dynamic European learning environment in which students explored branding, leadership, strategic communication and cross-cultural cooperation.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in a series of interdisciplinary tasks that demanded analytical thinking, creativity and teamwork. The programme’s structure allowed students to tackle real-life branding scenarios, apply theoretical concepts in practice and collaborate with colleagues from different cultural and academic backgrounds. This immersive environment empowered them to develop strategic decision-making skills, professional argumentation, innovative thinking and the ability to function effectively in diverse international teams.
A major added value of PROMINENCE 2025 was the exceptional business partnership with Heineken Slovakia. Radka Anguš, Senior Brand Manager, and Adam Košinár, Brand Manager, provided expert insights into contemporary brand development, market positioning and strategic marketing practices. Their deep industry knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to guide students demonstrated the vital importance of cooperation between academia and the corporate sector. Their contribution significantly elevated the educational impact of the programme and highlighted how learning from professionals inspires ambition, responsibility and mutual respect.
The programme’s successful implementation was ensured by Ildikó Némethová, Vice-Dean for International Relations, Eva Stradiotová, Vice-Dean for Education, and Viera Vančíková, whose leadership, coordination, and support were essential to the smooth and meaningful execution of each activity. The technical excellence of the event could not have been achieved without the outstanding work of Andrej Nemec and Michal Jankovič, whose commitment ensured flawless operation throughout the entire week.
The Faculty of Applied Languages was represented by ten exceptional students: Natália Slahučková, Lea Kovalská, Tamara Mrázová, Nela Jánošová, Petra Janíková, Kateryna Petrenko, Hana Puškárová, Katarína Králiková, Kristína Hošková and Romana Štefanková. Their professionalism, motivation and active participation enriched the programme and showcased the high academic standards of the faculty. Throughout the week, they demonstrated advanced communication competences, intercultural awareness, leadership potential and the ability to respond to complex managerial challenges.
PROMINENCE 2025 was not only an academic event; it was a transformative experience. It highlighted the power of European cooperation, the importance of connecting theory with practice, and the value of learning in culturally diverse teams. The programme strengthened students’ confidence, broadened their professional horizons and deepened their readiness for future challenges in the global environment.
By hosting its first BIP, the Faculty of Applied Languages reaffirmed its role as an active and respected partner in European higher education. PROMINENCE 2025 stands as a strong example of how academic expertise, international collaboration and industry engagement can create a meaningful, lasting impact on student development and institutional growth.
