Obtaining the status of a student with specific needs
Once you have enrolled in your first or upper year, you have the right to apply for special needs status at the beginning of the academic year or during the academic year (at the latest before the start of the exam period).
The first step is to make personal contact with the faculty coordinator of the relevant EU faculty. The coordinator will guide you in applying for a specific needs assessment and in being granted reasonable adjustments and support services.
Together with the application, you will submit supporting documents, in particular, medical certificates and/or CPPS certificates, on the basis of which the coordinator will make a recommendation for the granting of the status of student with specific needs and address it to the Dean of the Faculty.
The decision of the Dean of the Faculty grants you the status of a student with specific needs and entitles you to reasonable accommodations and support services for one academic year. Reasonable accommodations and support services are set up so that their transformation into an accommodating form of study does not lower the academic standards of the program of study.
Health certificates
- Proof of disability (if you have a disability - a disability card)
- a medical certificate from a medical specialist
- certificate of learning disability
Important notices
- A student holding a disability card is not automatically classified as a student with specific needs.
- Specific needs status is granted and valid for one academic year.
- Support services and reasonable adjustments are set up so that the organisation of studies of students with specific needs corresponds to comparable conditions to those of regular students.
- The status of a student with special needs is not a tool to reduce the curriculum, but a support tool to create adequate conditions that take into account the student's disability. Reasonable adjustments and support services are provided in a way that does not lower the academic standards, requirements for the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competences necessary for the qualification in the programme of study.
- Medical reports and health information are confidential. This information is handled exclusively by the Coordinator for Students with Special Needs.
