The Translation Centre of the Faculty of Applied Languages of the University of Economics in Bratislava is a voluntary association of faculty staff. The Centre participates in the preparation of scientific texts by translating manuscripts from Slovak into English, German, French, Spanish and Russian. It provides its services to pedagogical and scientific staff of the University of Economics in Bratislava and, in case of free capacities, also to pedagogical and scientific staff from other universities and employees of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

E2.09 +421 2 6729 5323 The research activity of the Faculty of Applied languages is developed in accordance with the declared objectives in the field of basic and applied research in disciplines forming the core of the study program.
In the field of basic research, it is the creation of scientific fundamentals of linguistic, literary, culture- and translatology disciplines on the basis of the latest knowledge, in line with trends in humanities. In the field of applied research, the Faculty turns its attention to the theoretical issues related to the adoption of language competences, including cognitive sciences and in line with the recommendations of the Common European framework of reference for languages (CEFR).
Important areas of research activity are European language policy, language culture, linguistic aspects of communication in the academic and professional sphere, as well as the e-learning area.
In terms of the research activity the Faculty of Applied Languages:
- focuses on high-quality research and project activities in the field of humanities and social sciences,
- promotes publication activities of Faculty members with a focus on quality and international importance,
- creates conditions, promotes and stimulates the professional qualification growth of the Faculty members,
- develops and intensifies high-quality research, design and publishing activity in the area of humanities and social sciences with a focus on the international aspect;
- intensifies the links between research and education,
- deepens cooperation with faculties of the University in the form of joint project and publishing activities with a focus on the international aspect (establishment of the Translation Centre FAJ).
The 14th International Scientific Conference "Foreign Languages in the Changes of Time XIV" was held at the Faculty of Applied Languages of the University of Economics in Bratislava on 14-15 November 2024.

On Friday, 4 October 2024, the International Scientific Conference Language and Politics took place at the University of Economics in Bratislava. At the Interface of Linguistics and Political Science IX.
On 11 November 2022, the Faculty of Applied Languages hosted the XIIIth Foreign Languages in the Changes of Time coference. The conference was opened and guests were welcomed by the Dean of FAJ doc. PhDr. Radoslav Štefančík, MPol. Ph.D.

8. novembra 2019 sa na Fakulte aplikovaných jazykov uskutočnil jubilejný X. ročník konferencie Cudzie jazyky v premenách času. Pri tejto príležitosti sa slávnostného otvorenia zúčastnili veľvyslankyne, veľvyslanci a zástupcovia Kubánskeho, Nemeckého, Rakúskeho, Španielskeho, Švajčiarskeho a Talianskeho zastupiteľstva na Slovensku. Konferenciu otvoril dekan FAJ doc. PhDr. Radoslav Štefančík, MPol. Ph.D. a prorektor pre medzinárodné vzťahy a štatutárny zástupca rektora Ekonomickej univerzity doc. Mgr. Boris Mattoš, PhD. Po doobedňajšej slávnostnej inaugurácii a plenárnej prednáške Prof. PhDr. Oľgy Orgóňovej, CSc. nasledovali rokovania v sekciách, ktoré trvali až do večerných hodín. Na konferencii sa zúčastnilo 40 prednášajúcich, z ktorých 8 hostí sme privítali zo zahraničia (Maďarsko, Česko, Rakúsko, Ukrajina), a 26 z iných univerzít na Slovensku.
